Missouri Western continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 5-0 run to expand its lead further to 52-41 with 4:41 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Golden Bears had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Griffons still entered the fourth quarter with a 56-52 edge. Missouri Western played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 18 points in the paint.

The Griffons kept their lead intact before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 77-66 with 2:27 to go in the contest. The Griffons kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 84-71 win. Missouri Western took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 14 of its 28 points in the paint.
