HAYS, Ks. — For the first time since 2016. Griffon Football is 2-0 after Thursday Night's 35-19 victory over Fort Hays State at Lewis Field Stadium.
Thanks to 144 first quarter rushing yards, the Griffons controlled the early parts of the game. Missouri Western scored just under two minutes into the game on a 46-yard scamper by sophomore running back
Brandon Hall. Nine minutes later, Hall punched his ticket again with a scoring plunge from eight yards out. Hall reached the century mark for a second-straight game on 13 carries for 104 yards.

Jared Scott complemented Hall's workhorse effort with his own 100-yard game — his first since Sept. 28, 2019 at Northeastern State. Scott started the night off strong with a career-high run of 59 yards on his first attempt. Scott skated across the field for 12 attempts and a career-high 125 yards and two scores.
Thanks to Scott's TD that answered a seven-play, 79-yard scoring drive by FHSU, MWSU led 21-7 late in the second quarter.The Tigers took the ball down the field with a six-play, 60-yatd drive that was extinguished by sophomore cornerback

Reagan Jones found the paydirt with five minutes left in the third on a 23-yard tuck-and-run that added to his 71-yard night. Scott sent the Tigers home with his final score of the evening with, stomping his way in from two yards out to put MWSU up 35-7 with 47 seconds left in the period.

- FHSU senior QB Chance Fuller did not play in Thursday night's game after sustaining an injury last week at Northwest Missouri.
- After starting 2-for-4 on third down, FHSU went 0-for-7 after the first quarter. The Griffons went 7-for-14 on third down.
- MWSU has won five straight-games dating back to 2021.
- This is the third consecutive season the Tigers have started 0-2 — a first in the Chris Brown era.
