Griffon Softball Tees Off for 10-Run Inning to Beat UIS

CHATHAM, Ill. — Have yourselves a fifth inning, Griffon Softball.

Missouri Western scored all of its runs in the top of fifth to beat Illinois-Springfield 10-5 in Wednesday's non-conference matchup at Spartan Park. The Griffons (16-15) dug themselves out of a 4-0 deficit and tied the game with a two-run home run by Emma Hoffart — her eighth of the season. With the bags packed, Natalee Weber unloaded them with a three-run double to take the lead at 7-4.

Mackenzie DeVine put the dagger through the Prairie Srars (22-13) with a three-run dinger to make it 10-4. Natalie Kissinger gave up five runs, but only two of them were earned with the Griffons committing three errors. Kissinger helped MWSU win its third game in a row with her fifth complete game of the season, striking out four batters and walking just two.
