Griffon Tennis Leaves Lopers Behind For 6-1 Victory

KEARNEY, Ne. – Griffon Tennis took it to No. 43 Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday at Harmon Park to solidify a 6-1 victory that cements Missouri Western as the No. 3 seed in the MIAA Tournament. 

Despite Anya Chavez and Isabella MacGibbon losing to the No. 48-ranked team of Melisa Becerra and Jazmin Zamorano 7-6 (8-6 tiebreaker), No. 57 Missouri Western (15-4, 6-2 MIAA) logged the doubles win early on with the No. 3 and No. 2 matches finishing first. Chavez bounced back with a three-set win over Becerra later on in No. 1 singles while Esther Güemes also went the distance in No. 2 singles to hand Narinda Ranaivo just her second conference defeat of the season.

Anaís Peralta Criado clinched a three-set win in her No. 4 singles match vs. Alexis Bernthal. In No. 5 singles, Ioanna Lathouri logged her fourth win of the season with a two-set sweep of Clare Piachy while Claudia Iglesias swept Masha Hatouka.
