HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Griffon Baseball ran into a buzzsaw to kick off the 2022 season, losing 12-0 while being no-hit by Southern Arkansas University in the Dugan Invitational.

Muleriders pitcher Jeremy Adorno pitched all seven innings and nearly painted a perfect game, striking out seven and walking one. Missouri Western's lone base runner Noah Wenger drew a walk in the bottom of the first inning. Meanwhile, the game began with the first two Muleriders reaching the basepaths, eventually scoring on a three-run homer by Will Richardson.

Jared Slater took the loss today, pitching 2 ⅔ innings while striking out two. Brian Tan and Easton Unruh both pitched in relief with Unruh striking out four Southern Arkansas batters. No errors were made by either team.

Missouri Western (0-1) plays a doubleheader on Monday. Both matchups are against Arkansas Tech University (0-0) at 12 and 3 p.m. in Russellville, Arkansas. The all-time series is tied 15-15 with MWSU taking the last matchup 2-1 back on Feb. 9, 2019 in Russellville.
