ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri Western men's basketball team couldn't cool off a hot-shooting Washburn team in a 79-64 loss to the Ichabods in the MWSU Fieldhouse Thursday.
The Griffons (12-14, 8-10 MIAA) nailed 12 threes, but couldn't overcome a 61.2% shooting night from the Ichabods (16-9, 13-6 MIAA). Washburn's Jonny Clausing made his first start of the year coming off injury, and led all scorers with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Will Eames led four Griffons in double figures with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Caleb Bennett added 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting from deep. JaQuaylon Mays had 12 points and JaRon Thames chipped in 11.
The Griffons shot 40% from the field.
Western returns home on Saturday, February 19th to host Emporia State on Senior Day in the Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
