ARKADELPHIA, Ar. — Another day, another game going up against one of the best teams in Division II.

Griffon Baseball couldn't bounce back after yesterday's loss to No. 18 Henderson State, losing 13-2 in seven innings to No. 11 Southern Arkansas University to close out Sunday and their trip to Arkansas.

Missouri Western hung tight with Southern Arkansas until the third inning. The Muleirders used a double, an error, catcher's interference and bases-loaded walk to tally together four runs. Three more runs were scored in the fifth due to two more errors by MWSU, who committed six on the day. 

Southern Arkansas put four more on the board, reaching on an error and five singles to go up 11-0. After senior Alex Crouch's solo home run in sixth, the Muleriders mustered together two more runs in the seventh and went up 13-1. This forced MWSU to score at least three runs and avoid the 10-run mercy rule.

The Griffons did grab one run thanks to senior Brady Holden's RBI single that scored junior Riley Higgins. After a strikeout to end the game, the Griffons end their stay in Arkansas.

Missouri Western (1-5) is back on the field against the University of Illinois-Springfield (2-2) at 10 a.m. this Friday in Joplin, Missouri. The Prairie Stars just split their season-opening series with Tusculum (4-3) this weekend.
