WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Despite eliminating a double-digit deficit early on, Griffon Football fell to Central Missouri, 40-37, in double overtime on Saturday at Walton Stadium.
With the Griffons (4-6, 4-6 MIAA) trailing 27-24 with four minutes remaining in regulation, the Missouri Western offense drove 58 yards in nine plays to tie the game on a Cody Watson field goal from 46 yards out -- a new career-high. Central Missouri (4-6, 4-6 MIAA) responded in the first overtime with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Cedric Case to Bo Reeves, putting UCM up 34-27. Cooper Burton caught his first TD of the season to tie the game thanks a 19-yard dart from Reagan Jones.
Watson knocked through a second field goal of 21 yards to take a 37-34 to begin the second overtime period, but Case connected with Reeves again -- this time from 20 yards out to give Central Missouri the victory.

- Jared Scott rushed for a career-high 23 attempts for 136 yards.
- Cam Grandy scored his first-career rushing TD, as well as his first TD since Nov. 2, 2019 at Pitt State.
- Traveon James caught five passes for 80 yards, giving him a team-high 694 yards to surpass his total of 639 last season.
- Titus McCoy has scored for the Griffons in consecutive weeks for the first time this season.
- With three TD tosses, Case has thrown nine TDs in two games.
