Griffons fall to Lopers, 39-18

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Griffons fell to the Lopers of Nebraska-Kearney on homecoming by a score of 39-18.

The two teams traded blows in the first quarter, with the only difference being a faked extra point that lead to the Lopers taking a narrow 8-7 lead. Unfortunately, that was the closest the Griffons would get, as the Lopers (5-1) would pull away to take the win.

NOTABLES
  • Traveon James found his way back into the record book once again, with his 169 receiving yards good enough for eighth all time in Griffon history.
  • Reagan Jones became the first 100 yard rusher for the Griffons (2-4) since week two of this season.
  • This is just the fourth time the Griffons have lost in the Matt Williamson era while having a 100 yard rusher. They are now 20-4 with a 100 yard rusher.
  • Anthony Villenueva finished with two sacks to lead the Griffon defense.
  • The Griffons out-gained the Lopers 428-340, and ran nearly 30 more plays.
NEXT UP
The Griffons prepare to take on Northeastern State on the road next Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
