WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Missouri Western baseball team dropped its series opener at No. 2 Central Missouri Thursday, 13-3, at Crane Stadium. It's the Griffons seventh straight loss as they fall to 10-27 this season and 8-23 in the MIAA.
MWSU jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on Thursday as
Ben Tsui led the game off with a home run and then
Gustavo Gonzalez scored on a double steal. It was all Mules after that though as they answered back with five runs in the bottom of the first and five more in the second inning.
Maurice Bruce hit his eighth home run of the season in the sixth inning for Missouri Western's final run, but UCM scored singles runs in the final three innings for a run-rule victory.
Ryan Neise had the only other hit for the Griffons with a single to left field in the second inning.
Brian Tan suffered the loss as he allowed nine earned runs and seven hits in 1.2 innings of work.
Missouri Western wraps up its season Friday as they play a doubleheader at Central Missouri beginning at 1:00 p.m.
