EMPORIA, Kan. – The Missouri Western baseball team earned its second series win of the season on Sunday as they run-ruled Emporia State 19-4 in seven innings. The Griffons improve to 10-20 this season and 8-16 in the MIAA.
It was all Missouri Western from the start Sunday as they scored four runs in the first inning and five more in the second. They put the game out of reach in the fifth inning with six more runs and had a season-high in runs scored.
Bailey Crump had a career day at the plate with eight RBI, which is tied for the second most in a game in school history. Crump went 4-for-4 with three runs, one home run and two doubles. He had an RBI single in the first inning, a three-run double in the second, an RBI double in the fourth inning and capped his day off with a three-run home run in the fifth inning.
Maurice Bruce and
Ryan Neise added two hits each. Bruce scored four runs, homered and drove in two.
Ben Tsui added three runs and three RBI,
Brady Holden scored three times and
Alex Crouch had a home run and two RBI.
Jacob Weirich earned the win on the mound as he allowed three runs on six hits in five innings of work. He struck out five and walked seven.
The Griffons stay on the road as they play a three-game series at Central Oklahoma beginning on Friday.
