ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Missouri Western baseball team lost both games of its doubleheader Thursday against No. 4 Missouri Southern at the Griffon Spring Sports Complex.  MWSU lost the opener, 8-6, and then fell in game two, 13-1.  The Griffons drop to 2-11 this season and they're 1-7 in the MIAA.
 
GAME 1 – #4 Missouri Southern 8, Missouri Western 6
MWSU fell behind early to the Lions as Southern scored two in the first inning and built a 7-0 lead after four and half.  The Griffons battled back with two runs in the fifth inning, one in the sixth and three more runs in the seventh inning, but that was as close as they'd get.  Both teams had chances throughout the game as they each left 11 runners on base.
 
Ben Tsui had three hits and two RBI for Missouri Western, while Hyrum Bishop went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two runs batted in.  Zach Hanlan came off the bend and added two hits, one run and one RBI.
 
Roy Robles (2-2) suffered the loss as he allowed seven earned runs and 12 hits in six innings of work.  He struck out eight and walked two.
 
GAME 2 – #4 Missouri Southern 13, Missouri Western 1
Alex Crouch hit a triple in the third inning of game two to score Ben Tsui to pull Missouri Western within one run, 2-1, but Southern answered right back with an eight-run top of the fourth inning.  They added two in the sixth and one run in the seventh inning to run-rule the Griffons.
 
Tsui, Bishop and Maurice Bruce added singles as MWSU had four hits.  Jacob Weirich (0-2) took the loss on the mound.  He went 3+ innings and gave up six earned runs on six hits.
