ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Missouri Western women's basketball team lost to No. 5 Fort Hays State, 77-69, Thursday night inside the MWSU Fieldhouse. The Griffons have lost four straight games as they drop to 6-15, while the Tigers clinched at least a share of the regular season title as they're now 19-2. It was their 14
th straight win.
There were eight lead changes and six ties in the first half as Fort Hays' biggest lead was six and the Griffons was two points. FHSU led at halftime, 39-37.
The two teams traded baskets early in the third quarter as MWSU trailed 48-47 with 4:22 left, but Fort Hays State went on an 8-0 run and eventually led 60-52 at the end of the three quarters. The Tigers extended their lead to an many as 18 points, 73-55, in the fourth quarter before the Griffons went on a 14-2 run late to pull within six, but that was as close as they'd get.
Mychaell Gray scored a career-high 15 points to lead Missouri Western, wile
Logan Hughes added 12.
Asia McCoy and
Brionna Budgetts also scored in double figures with 10 points each, while
Camille Evans added seven points, a career-high seven assists and eight rebounds.
