ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - So much for working the rust off.
The Missouri Western women broke program records for points and three-point shooting percentage in a 120-49 victory over NAIA St. Mary on Wednesday.
The Griffons (10-1) used a 63% shooting night from the field and a record 72% clip (16-22) from 3-point land for the wire-to-wire victory.
Senior guard Jaelyn Haggard led six players in double figures with a season-high 20 points on the night. 14 of the 15 Griffon players scored for MWSU.
The tune-up game was Western's first action since its first loss of the season on December 18th at Northwest Missouri State. The Griffons will step back into MIAA play on New Year's Day when they welcome Pittsburg State to the Fieldhouse.
NOTABLES:
- The 120 points scored is the most in program history, breaking the previous mark of 115 set on November 30th, 2002 (115-37 win over Southwestern College)
- The 72% 3-point field goal percentage is a program record for games with a minimum of 10 attempts
- MWSU's 16-made 3-point field goals ties a program record (2002 vs. Truman State)
- The Griffons' 47-point 3rd quarter is also a program record since the NCAA moved the women's game from halves to quarters in the 2018-19 season.
