Griffon Football Game Day Primer

HAPPY HOMECOMING AND FAMILY WEEKEND!!!!  We look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus for this weekend's festivities including two volleyball games and the football game which will culminate with postgame fireworks!

Below is everything you need to know for your trip in this edition of the Game Day Primer.

As a reminder, no outside food or drink may be carried into Spratt Memorial Stadium or the MWSU Fieldhouse.  Backpacks are also not allowed.  MWSU currently has an indoor mask policy.

FOOTBALL PRIMER

GAME DAY FORECAST:
Not sure if I would define it as perfect fall weather, but it's pretty darn close!  Come early, enjoy the pageantry and stay for the duration!

Homecoming Parade Through Downtown: 10 a.m., Sunny, 49 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation, 8 mph winds
Tailgate Time 1 p.m.: Sunny, 59 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation, 10 mph winds 
Kickoff 4 p.m.: Sunny, 64 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation, 10 mph winds
Halftime 5:30 p.m.:  Sunny, 63 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation, 9 mph winds
Postgame Fireworks 7 p.m.: Clear, 56 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation, 4 mph winds

TICKETS
Fans are encouraged to get their tickets early.  Presale tickets are available on-line at gogriffons.com and will go on sale at the stadium box office at 2:00 PM.  MWSU Gold Coat Members and MWSU faculty/staff members may purchase tickets for a discount in presale.  Gold Coat Members use your presale code sent with your season ticket package, faculty/staff members may purchase tickets for $5 apiece in the lobby of the Griffon Indoor Sports Complex between 8 AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday.

Griffon students may claim a free ticket from gogriffons.com.  Simply click on the ticket link, select box office, navigate to the game you want to attend and use your G# as your passcode.

Three windows will be open for walk-up sales, two at the main booth and one at the east lower entrance next to Baker Fitness Center.  All will call, player pass list, credentials and Max Experience tickets will be available at the main ticket booth.

Active military personnel may show their ID at either Spratt Stadium ticket booth for two free GA tickets via our Stars & Stripes program.

PARKING & STADIUM ENTRANCES

PARKING
Parking lots will be open for tailgating at 12 p.m.

Below is a description of the various lots available for parking:

NORTH END OF LOT H (IN FRONT OF BAKER FITNESS CENTER), east side: Gold Coat Reserved Parking
NORTH END OF LOT H (IN FRONT OF BAKER FITNESS CENTER), west side: MWSU Student Tailgate Parking
REMAINDER OF LOT H: General parking
LOT I: Stadium Club & Suite Holder Parking
LOT J: Overflow general parking

ENTRANCES
(open 60 minutes prior to kickoff):

Craig Field at Spratt Memorial Stadium has three general entrances for tomorrow's game.

MAIN CONCOURSE (Gate 1 & 2) - Four lines for spectators to access.
EAST LOWER ENTRANCE (Gate 3) - Two lines for spectators and Griffon students to access.

TAILGATING
Tailgating is welcome and encouraged on Griffon Football home game days.  Tailgating is permitted in Lots I, H and J beginning four hours prior to kickoff ending at game time.  Parking spaces may not be reserved or saved for others.  Tailgating must be either in front of or behind vehicles and not in adjacent parking spaces.  No glass containers are allowed.  A complete list of the MWSU Tailgating Policy is on-line at gogriffons.com.

Tomorrow, fans are invited to Lot H as a variety of local food trucks will be set up as part of Homecoming/Family Day activities beginning at 1 p.m.

THE PAVILION PARTY DECK IS OPEN TO ALL TICKETED FANS!
Join us on the Pavilion Party Deck for each home game from the time the gates open through the end of the game.  The deck, which is open to the public and available to any ticketed fan, will feature a menu of options tomorrow from Adrian's Tacos.    Additionally, Budweiser products will be available for purchase provided by the Hi-Ho Bar Bar & Grill.  Beverages sales will cease at the end of the third quarter. 

The pavilion may be accessed by foot traffic via the sidewalk and around by the Griffon Indoor Sports Complex, down the staircase beside the home west side of the grandstand or via shuttle cart which picks up at the northeast corner of the GISC.

CONCESSIONS & RESTROOM FACILITIES

CONCESSIONS
Three concession stands are available for all patrons.  The main concourse features two stands on each side of the seating areas with an ample number of lines.  A concession stand is also available on the northeast side of the stadium.

RESTROOMS
Restrooms are located in two areas of Spratt Memorial Stadium.  Fans may use the facilities in the main concourse and also in the concession building in the northeast corner.  PLEASE NOTE: For tailgating, the main concourse restrooms do open from outside the stadium and will be available before the opening of the gates.  Portable restrooms will also be stationed throughout Lot H & j.

GRIFFON MERCHANDISE
Get outfitted with all of the latest Griffon Gear by visiting the team store which is located in the main concourse of the stadium and opens at 2 PM.  Several styles are available including a new line of Nike Sideline Guide.  The store will remain open throughout the game.
 
PRE GAME SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
12 p.m. - Gold Coat/Stadium Club parking lots open, all lots open for tailgating
2 p.m. - Ticket booths & Griffon Team Store open
3 p.m. - Stadium gates open
3:35 p.m. - Head for your seats!!!!!
3:41 p.m. - Golden Griffon Marching Band pre game show
3:46 p.m. - Recognition of Alumni Association Award Winners
3:50 p.m. - Presentation of the colors/National Anthem
3:52 p.m. - Griffon Walk/video board presentation begins/ Griffon entrance into the stadium 
3:57 p.m. - Coin Toss
4 p.m. - Kickoff

TODAY'S PROMOTIONS & RECOGNITIONS

TAILGATE ZONE
Stop by Lot H for games for kids of all ages including Axe Throwing compliments of the Axe Factor.  As mentioned above, as part of Homecoming and Family Day activities, a variety of local food trucks will be on hand for your eating pleasure beginning at 1 p.m.!

POSTGAME FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA
Stay in your seats following the game for a Homecoming Fireworks Extravaganza performed by Schneitter Fireworks.  The show will be approximately 10 minutes in length in which you will not want to miss it!

UNITED WAY "OUR CITY" CAR FLAGS
Griffon Athletics is proud once again to partner with the United Way of Greater St. Joseph in helping raise awareness for their annual campaign.  Make sure to purchase your limited edition, Griffon Branded "Our City" car flag available in the concourse tomorrow afternoon.  Flags are $10 apiece with all proceeds going to benefit the United Way. 

PREGAME FESTIVITIES
We encourage fans to be in their seats at least 20 minutes prior to kickoff as you won't want to miss the pregame intro video and Griffon entrance into the stadium.  Our team would love to see a great crowd as they come down the hill!

GRIFFON FIRST DOWN TRADITION
As is tradition, when a first down is made, PA will say  "First Down   M   W" and we will ask the cheer squad and crowd to respond    S U!  First downs this season are presented by Border States Electric.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Griffon Football returns home Saturday, October 23 as they host Pittsburg State at 4 p.m. in the Rogers Pharmacy Hall of Fame Game.  We'll recognize the 2020 Griffon Athletics Hall of Fame Class at halftime.

GRIFFON VOLLEYBALL
Griffon Volleyball hosts Emporia State in the fieldhouse this evening (Fri, Oct. 15) at 6 p.m. and then Washburn on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m..  Tickets go on sale one hour prior to the match for $5.00 apiece and may also be purchased online at gogriffons.com.  Gold Coat Members may use their  membership card for admission. Griffon students may claim a free ticket from gogriffons.com by using their G# as the passcode.

This weekend kicks off our annual Pink Week presented by Family Center Farm & Home in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  At the home volleyball and soccer games during this time, we'll be selling Pink Week t-shirts for a minimum $10 donation with all proceeds benefiting the Mosaic Life Care Breast Cancer Center.  If you can't make it to a game, purchase your shirt online at gogriffons.com/pink-week.

TRAVELIN' GRIFFONS
Griffon Soccer travels south this weekend to take on Northeastern State tonight (Fri, Oct. 15) at 7 p.m. and then will be at Newman on Sunday with kickoff slated for 2 p.m.
