ST. JOSEPH – Missouri Western Women's Basketball returns to MWSU Fieldhouse this week to face two familiar opponents. The Griffons (18-6, 10-5 MIAA) will host Pittsburg State (14-9, 10-5 MIAA) and close out the week and face Missouri Southern (8-15, 5-10 MIAA) on Saturday.
 
The Griffons will look to continue on the success of Saturday's game against Missouri Southern last Saturday with these two matchups. Being one game behind fourth-seeded Central Oklahoma, the fifth-seeded Griffs will look to continue to build a streak headed into postseason action.
 
PREVIEWING THE GRIFFONS

• PSU also ranks in the top-five of the league in assists averaging 14.8 per contest.
• Pittsburg State also ranks third in the conference in field goal percentage averaging 45% shooting.
• Tristan Gegg is the leading scorer in the MIAA averaging 19.1 points per game.
• Athena Alvarado ranks in the sixth of the conference in rebounding averaging eight boards per game.
• Kaylee DaMitz averages six assists per game leading the MIAA in that stat category.

 
SCOUTING MISSOURI SOUTHERN
 

• The Lions are good at defending the field holding opponents to only 38% in field goal percentage.
• Missouri Southern also ranks third in the conference in defensive rebounds averaging 27.4 boards on that end of the glass.
