Men's Basketball Heads to Pittsburg and Joplin for Two

Griffons look to continue win streak

ST. JOSEPH – Missouri Western Men's Basketball closes regular season road action with two more games this week. The Griffons (13-11, 9-4 MIAA) will travel to Pittsburg State (9-13, 5-8 MIAA) on Wednesday to take on the Gorillas will close out play on Saturday as they take on #19 Missouri Southern (18-4, 11-2 MIAA).
 
As the Griffons travel south this week, they bring with them a six-game win streak and one of the best seasons in recent memory. When MWSU travels to Joplin, they will look to snap a four-game losing streak to the Lions and work to return to Looney on a high note.
 
PREVIEWING THE GRIFFONS
 
  • Missouri Western has cracked the top-five in scoring offenses in the MIAA averaging 76.9 points per game.
  • The Griffons also lead the league in blocked shots averaging 4.17 rejections per contest.
  • MWSU also averages 9.5 made three-point field goals per game ranking them third in the conference in that stat category.
  • Missouri Western ranks second in the MIAA in offensive rebounds averaging 10.6 boards on that side of the glass.
  • Tyrell Carroll ranks in the top-10 of the league in scoring averaging 16.8 points per game. Carroll averages 46% from the field.
  • TC also ranks second in the conference in assists averaging six dimes per contest.
  • Carroll averages two steals per game which ranks him second-best in the MIAA in that stat category as well.
  • Will Eames ranks fourth in the MIAA in rebounding averaging 7.7 boards per contest.
  • Tyus Millhollin is tied for first in the league in average made three-point field goals per game with 3.1. Millhollin averages 37% from beyond the arc.
  • Reese Glover also ranks in the top-10 of the league in that category averaging 2.4 made three-pointers per game.

  • Pitt State ranks fourth in the MIAA in three-point field goal percentage averaging 38% from beyond the arc.
  • A.J. Walker is the leading scorer for the Gorillas averaging 17.7 points per game.
  • Walker averages 43% from three-point range ranking him in the top-five of the league in three—point field goal percentage.
  • Christian Edmondson ranks in the top-five of the MIAA in blocked shots averaging 1.5 rejections per game.
 
SCOUTING MISSOURI SOUTHERN
 
  • The Lions lead the league in scoring averaging 84.5 points per game.
  • MSSU also leads the league in rebounding averaging 39.2 boards per game.
  • Southern also ranks second in the MIAA in assists averaging 16.09 per contest.
  • Cam Martin averages 22 points per contest for the Lions ranking him second highest in the conference in that stat category.
