ST. JOSEPH – Griffon Baseball opens the 2020 season this week as they travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma on Friday and Saturday to take on Oklahoma Baptist. This outing will be the first time in five years the Griffons open the season in January.
 
The Griffons are looking to win their season-opening game for the first time since the 2012 season on Friday evening. Through three games in 2019, Missouri Western tallied 14 runs against the Bison, but OBU took two out of three games last season.
 
NOTABLES:
 

• The Griffons finished out 2019 with a 21-24 record but finished out the year with a winning record in conference play.
• Missouri Western also features 16 athletes returning to the team, including 11 position players and 5 pitchers.
• MWSU also offers the introduction of 20+ newcomers to the squad.
• Oklahoma Baptist finished the 2019 season with a 35-21 record going 20-13 in conference play.
• The defending Great American Conference champions made it all the way to the final round of the Central Regional last year losing to top-ranked Augustana in the final round.
• Friday and Saturday's games will feature these two programs squaring off for the second time in either programs' history.
