ST. JOSEPH – Missouri Western Women's Basketball looks to bounce back in road action this week. The Griffons (14-4, 6-3 MIAA) will travel to Edmond, Oklahoma on Thursday to take on Central Oklahoma (14-5, 8-3 MIAA) and turn around to head to Wichita, Kansas on Saturday to take on the Newman Jets (9-11, 4-7 MIAA).
 
The Griffons are looking to start up another win streak like the one they had close to the start of the season with these two conference matchups. After a week highlighted by beating a nationally ranked opponent in #10 Fort Hays State, things are starting to heat up for the season's standings.
 
PREVIEWING THE GRIFFONS
 
  • Missouri Western has been stingy on the glass this season, averaging 28.4 defensive rebounds per game. This ratio ranks them second in the MIAA in that stat category.
  • MWSU has also averaged 45% from the field per game ranking them third best in the conference.
  • The Griffons also rank fourth best in the league in steals averaging 9.94 per contest.
  • Corbyn Cunningham ranks third in the MIAA in field goal percentage averaging 56% per game.
  • Cunningham also averages 8.1 rebounds per contest ranking her in the top-five of the conference in that stat category.
  • Even with sitting out last week, Chris Wilson's averages for points (15.1), field goal percentage (53%) and rebounding (8.4) still rank in the top-10 of the MIAA for those respective stat categories.
  • Katrina Roenfeldt ranks in the top-10 of the league in assists averaging 3.4 per game.
  • KT also ranks second in the conference in steals averaging 2.6 per contest.
  • Roenfeldt and Kylee Williams rank in the top-10 of the MIAA in three-point field goals made per game, averaging 2.1 and 2 made from beyond the arc, respectively.
 
SCOUTING CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
 
  • The Bronchos rank third in the MIAA in scoring averaging 78 points per game.
  • UCO also averages 16.63 assists per game ranking them second in the conference in that stat category.
  • Central Oklahoma also places second in the league in steals, averaging 11.11 takeaways per contest.
  • Kelsey Johnson is the top scorer for the Bronchos averaging 13.2 points per game. Johnson also leads the league in field goal percentage averaging 60% per contest.
  • Johnson also leads UCO in rebounding averaging 7.1 boards per game.
  • Shatoya Bryson averages 2.4 steals per game ranking her third best in the MIAA in that stat category.
 
SCOUTING NEWMAN
 
  • The Jets rank fourth in the conference in blocked shots averaging 3.3 per game.
  • Newman also ranks sixth best in the MIAA in three-point field goals made per game averaging 7.1 per contest.
  • Kaitlyn Potter ranks third in the league in scoring averaging 16.7 points per game for the Jets. Potter averages 38% from the field as well.
  • Potter also averages 3.3 made three-point field goals per game with 36% from beyond the arc. Each of these stats rank in the top-three of the MIAA.
  • Michaela Mack averages 3.8 assists per game ranking her in the top-five of the conference in that category.
