JOPLIN, Mo. – Griffon Softball (8-4) only needed 11 innings to sweep a doubleheader from Wayne State (Neb.), Saturday in Joplin.

The Griffons batted .424 on the day with nine doubles, two triples and a home run while outscoring the Wildcats (1-3) 19-3.
Brea Blanton got her first two career starts at designated player and delivered five hits in seven at bats with four RBIs.
Gabi Carter and
Tamara Hicks had four hits each on the day.
Morgan Frost and
Emma Hoffart each had three hits.

Game 1
MWSU 10, Wayne State 2 (6 innings)
- A low-scoring game early, the Griffons broke it open with three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings
- MWSU had six doubles in the game, tied for the second most in program history
- Missouri Western had 15 hits in the game and didn't commit an error in the field
- Tamara Hicks had two of the doubles, going 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs
- Brea Blanton went 4-for-4 with two RBIs in her first career start
- Morgan Frost led off the third with a solo home run
- Olivia Goodale (2-0) picked up the win in relief, allowing one run on three hits while striking out three with no walks through three innings

Game 2
MWSU 9, WSC 1 (5 innings)
- Missouri Western jumped out to a 6-0 lead with four runs in the first and two in the second
- The Griffons weren't charged with an error in game two and needed just 10 hits to score the nine runs
- Frost ended the game with a two-run triple in the sixth
- MWSU got doubles from Gabi Carter, Emma Hoffart and Taylor Hoelscher
- Lauren Houston tied an MWSU single-game high with three walks
- Frost and Cassidy Kelsheimer tripled
- Kelsheimer, Blanton and Hicks all stole bases in the game
- Hicks, Hoelscher and Carter had two hits each
- Kaili Hinds moved to 3-0 on the season, allowing four hits and striking out three
