LIBERTY, Mo. – Griffon Volleyball (14-11) was defeated in straight sets by William Jewell (11-16) in its final road match of the 2019 season.

Missouri Western fell by scores of 25-17, -21 and -21. The Griffons hit a season-low .083 in the match, committing 29 errors on 121 attacks. Missouri Western had leads in all three sets of a match that saw the lead change 23 total times.

The last Griffon lead in the first was 13-12, but William Jewell closed out the set on a 13-4 run. In the second, MWSU led 20-17 before the Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the match with an 8-1 run that started with a 6-0 spurt. After falling behind 17-11 in the third, Missouri Western cut the lead in half, but never got closer than a three-point deficit the rest of the way.

Both teams finished with 39 kills and digs were just one in favor of the home team. Eight William Jewell finished with eight blocks to four for the Griffons.
