ST. JOSEPH – Missouri Western Volleyball closes out the 2019 regular season this week, as the Griffons (15-12, 9-9 MIAA) host the Newman Jets (1-27, 1-18 MIAA) on Thursday and the Bronchos from Central Oklahoma (18-11, 10-9) on Saturday. Saturday's match will be Senior Day for Griffon Volleyball and four Griffons will be honored for their contributions to the program.
The Griffons look to bounce back and finish the season strong as they prepare for postseason play. They currently sit at the sixth seed in the MIAA headed into this week, and with a match-up with the fifth seed in Central Oklahoma, a chance is in sight to bump up in the rankings.
PREVIEWING THE GRIFFONS
- Missouri Western ranks fifth in the MIAA in average blocks per set with a rate of 1.84.
- The Griffons are also top-five in the conference in average hitting percentage with a ratio of .204.
- Ali Tauchen ranks third in the league in average blocks per set with a rate of .97.
- Tauchen also ranks top-10 in the MIAA in average kills (3.45) and hitting percentage (.310) per set.
- Lauren Murphy is top-five in the conference in average assists per set with a rate of 10.16. Murphy is also 37 assists away from having 1,000 assists on the season.
- Jessica Sachen is ranked fifth in the league in average service aces per set with a rate of .32
- Tiana Butler ranks second in the MIAA in average digs per set with a rate of 5.95. Butler's dig total of 553 on the season ranks top-15 in all of Division II.
- Danielle Moje and Allie Kerns also rank in the top-20 of the conference in average blocks per set.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
- The Jets rank in the top-10 of the MIAA in average blocks per set with a rate of 1.36.
- Trinity Conley ranks in the top-five in average kills per set with a rate of 3.36.
- Reagan Roth ranks seventh in average assists per set with a rate of 7.44.
- Mackenzie Anderson ranks in the top-10 in average digs per set with a rate of 3.73.
- Anderson also ranks top-10 in total digs this season with 351.
SCOUTING CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
- The Bronchos rank second in the MIAA in average digs per set with a rate of 19.76.
- Central Oklahoma also ranks top-five in the conference in average service aces, kills and assists per set.
- Dominique Lipari leads the MIAA in average digs per set with a rate of 6.88.
- Lipari's dig total of 702 also leads the league.
- Courtney Lane ranks in the top-15 in average kills per set with a rate of 2.73.
