AMES, Iowa – The
Candi Whitaker era unofficially began Wednesday night with an 87-54 exhibition loss at Iowa State.
The Griffons trailed 42-40 at the half, but played within three of the Cyclones in the third quarter before Iowa State closed it out with a 24-16 fourth quarter. The Griffons forced 22 Iowa State turnovers, but committed 20 themselves. Iowa State shot 64% from the field with the Griffons shooting 31%. Logan Hughes who led the team with 17 points in her return to her home state.
Katrina Roenfeldt finished with 11 points.
Corbyn Cunningham had a team-high five rebounds. Hughes and
Mychaell Gray each had four rebounds.
Missouri Western begins regular season play Nov. 8 in the Hillyard Tip-Off Classic at Civic Arena against Concordia-St. Paul.
