ST. JOSEPH- Griffon baseball (15-13) snapped a four-game losing skid with a 7-5 win over Missouri Southern (19-10).
Fahd Shakeel propelled Missouri Western to the win with two key triples. Shakeel tripled in the bottom of the sixth inning to drive in
Brooks Day and tie the game at 5-5. His next at-bat in the bottom of the eighth inning produced the game winner when
Nolan Meyer scored from first base. Ryan Fischer added insurance a batter later when his pinch hit single drove in Shakeel to stretch the lead to 7-5.
MWSU scored two runs with two outs in the second inning on a
Kyle Snuttjer single for an early 2-1 advantage.
Brooks Day homered in the bottom of the third inning and gave the Griffons the lead back 4-3. Missouri Southern regained the lead with two runs in the sixth inning before Shakeel's triple in the sixth.
