OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Griffon Softball was eliminated from the MIAA tournament with a 5-1 loss to eighth-seeded Emporia State on Friday.

The fifth-seeded Griffons began the day with a 4-1 win over Southwest Baptist, scoring three runs in the eighth inning to advance one more round. Emporia State scored five unanswered runs in the Griffons fourth game of the tournament to knock Missouri Western out of the field.

Morgan Rathmann began Friday with a bang, leading off the Southwest Baptist game with her MWSU career record breaking 264
th hit. The senior left Oklahoma City with Missouri Western career records for hits, runs scored, triples and stolen bases. She also broke the MIAA career record for triples in her first at bat of the tournament against Southwest Baptist.

The team will now await its postseason fate that won't be determined until the NCAA Division II Softball Championship selection show on May 8. The Griffons were ranked No. 8 in the latest regional poll with the top-eight in each region making the field.
