KEARNEY, Neb. – There was no sigh of relief during Griffon Softball's first doubleheader sweep since March 26. Instead, the team took out the frustration of three straight splits on Nebraska-Kearney (8-42, 5-19), outscoring the Lopers 13-4 on Saturday.

Missouri Western (31-15, 11-9) had 14 hits in a 7-1 game one victory before jumping out to an early 5-0 lead then holding on for a 6-3 win in game two.

POWER SURGE
After a stretch of nine games without an extra base hit, the Griffon bats came alive this week. The Griffons had six on Saturday: four home runs, two doubles and two triples. Missouri Western hit nine doubles and 11 home runs this week (6 games).

RATHMANN ROLLING
Senior
Morgan Rathmann went 6-for-9 on Saturday and 10-for-15 on the weekend. The hot four-game stretch pushed her batting average up to .344 on the season, after falling to a season-low, .302 after the Central Missouri series.

KLOSTERMAN RETURNS TO FORM
Katie Klosterman also broke out of a slump Saturday, hitting two home runs and going 4-for-5 at the plate. The senior also scored five runs and drove in three.

SOLID IN THE FIELD
Missouri Western entered the weekend averaging more than one error per loss and less than one per win. On Saturday, the team was charged with just one error.

Missouri Western returns to the Spring Sports Complex for the final six games of the regular season. The homestand begins Monday at 2 p.m. when the Griffons host Lincoln (5-39, 2-18).Â
