Bats Awaken; Streak Snapped

Griffons snap losing streak with win over Northwest Missouri

ST. JOSEPH – Bad luck never lasts forever, and it finally ran its course with Griffon Softball Tuesday night as Missouri Western (27-13, 7-7) snapped a five-game losing streak in a doubleheader split with Northwest Missouri State (22-14, 11-5).

The seemingly snake-bitten Griffons couldn't catch a break in a 3-2 game one loss before breaking out of their offensive slump for nine hits in a 6-5 game two win.

NOTABLES
  • The game two win snapped  five-game skid for the team
  • Missouri Western had its first extra base hits since March 25 in game two, getting a double and a home run
  • Kailey Green's two-run home run in the fourth inning of game two broke a 3-3 tie and gave MWSU five unanswered runs after falling behind 3-0
  • The Griffons had 17 hits on the night, the most in a doubleheader for the team since its 26 against Lindenwood on March 9

TOP PERFORMERS
  • Shelby Uhl continued her hot streak with a 3-for-6 night at the plate that included a run scored
  • Katie Klosterman and Shelbie Atwell each went 3-for-6 themselves to break out of mini slumps. They also each drove in two runs and Atwell had a double and a run scored
