ST. JOSEPH – In midst of its longing winning of the streak of the season, Missouri Western volleyball (16-9) returns to the MWSU Fieldhouse. The Griffons received votes in the latest AVCA Top-25 Coaches poll and have won nine of the last 10 matches including five straight.
 
Heading into the weekend, MWSU is in a three-way tie for second place in the MIAA standings with No. 13 Central Oklahoma and No. 16 Central Missouri. Saturday's match between the Griffons and Jennies could provide relief to the log jammed second spot in the standings.
 
MISSOURI WESTERN
Missouri Western is 16-9 on the season and 10-2 in the MIAA … Lauren Murphy ranks tenth in Division II for assists (964) and 13^th in assists per set (11.48) … Stephanie Doak is 20^th in Division II for total kills (340) and second in the MIAA for kills per set (3.86) …Kayla Ruff ranks 24^th in Division II for total digs (477) and fourth in the conference for digs per set (5.18).
 
As a team, the Griffons are tenth in Division II for team assists (1,167), 12^th for kills (1,233), 19^th for digs (1,659) and 23^rd for total attacks (3,439).
 
MWSU leads the MIAA in digs per set (18.05) … fourth for service aces (100) … fifth for hitting percentage (.211), assists per set (12.68) and kills per set (13.40) … Missouri Western beat Lindenwood 3-1 on Sept. 22 and fell to #15 Central Missouri 3-1on Sept. 23.
 
LINDENWOOD
The Lions are 15-11 on the season and 6-6 in the MIAA … MWSU won the first match of the season, 3-1, in St. Charles, Missouri… Lindenwood is first in the MIAA for service aces (131) and aces per set (1.44) … third in blocks per set (2.16), total digs (1,610) and total blocks (197) … fourth for hitting percentage (.214) and digs per set (17.69) … MWSU leads the all-time series against LWU 9-2
 
#16 CENTRAL MISSOURI
The Jennies are 20-5 on the season and 10-2 in the MIAA … UCM won the first meeting, 3-1, in Warrensburg, Missouri … Central Missouri leads the MIAA in total kills (1,261), kills per set (14.33), assists (1,170) assists per set (13.30) … second in hitting percentage (.259), service aces (126), aces per set (1.43) … third for digs per set (17.78) … fourth in total digs (1,565) … Last season, Missouri Western knocked off #11 Central Missouri, 3-2, in the MWSU Fieldhouse.
