ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western Baseball will begin their series against Central Missouri starting on Thursday with a single game at 6 p.m. Friday will feature a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

Previewing Missouri Western
The Griffons are 31-13 this season and 23-10 in the MIAA standings. Missouri Western sits third in the MIAA standings, three games back for Central Missouri for first place in the MIAA standings. The Griffons have won three of their last five games. MWSU sits No. 2 in the central region rankings behind St. Cloud State.

Missouri Western offensively continues to hit .336 as a team. Landon Mason is leading the charge, hitting .424 on the season. David Glaude is hitting .400 this year, tallying seven home runs, six triples and 52 RBIs this season. Jeremy Alvarado is now up to 12 home runs this year and 50 RBIs. Nick Gawley earned hitter of the week for the Griffons this past week, hitting .529 in the process with 12 RBIs. Gawley has 16 stolen bases and senior Orencio Fisher has 23 stolen bases.

On the mound, Richard Peoples has an 8-3 overall record. He has started 10 games this season and struck out 46 batters. Preston Bailey, Alex Clavet, Weston Caindec, Evan Jones, and Jared Lloyd have all picked up at least three victories for the Griffons this year. Bailey leads the team with 54 strikeouts while Caindec has picked 62.2 innings.

Previewing Central Missouri
The Mules are ranked 21^st in the polls, owning a 28-12 overall record and a 23-13 conference mark. Central Missouri have won two of their last four games. They picked up a victory over Southwest Baptist on Tuesday but fell twice against Northeastern State last weekend. 

UCM is hitting .293 as a team with 62 doubles, 20 triples, 52 home runs and 255 RBIs. Jake Alexander leads the team with a .360 batting average, producing 10 doubles and 26 RBIs on the year. Bennett Oliver has a team-high 18 home runs this year and 39 RBIs. Ten Mules have double figure RBIs this season.

The pitching staff has a 4.00 ERA through 40 games this year. The staff has struck out 345 batters and given up 137 walks. Ethan Westphal is 6-2 with a 3.13 ERA in 10 appearances. He also leads the team with 69 strikeouts. Tyler House is 5-2 this year, pitching 56.2 innings and holds opponents a .253 batting average.
