The Griffons Have Now Won Nine Straight Games


ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western Baseball extends their winning streak to nine games, beating Nebraska-Kearney 10-3 on Friday evening.

The Griffons were able to build an early lead, scoring the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning as Landon Mason was driven in by David Glaude on an RBI single to center field. The Griffons scored two more runs in the third inning, as Mason and Glaude picked up RBIs in the inning.

Nebraska-Kearney was able to add two runs in the top of the fifth but the Griffons responded with a run of their own in the fifth as Cosimo Cannella picked up an RBI in the inning.

Missouri Western added four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, featuring a three RBI triple by Nick Gawley. The final run of the inning was scored on an RBI single by Orencio Fisher, moving the Griffons lead to 8-2.

The Griffons added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth and didn't allow the Lopers to get any more than three runs across the plate.

MWSU received another solid start from Richard Peoples as he went seven innings, allowing 10 hits and giving up three runs. He also struck out four batters on the night.

Gawley, Glaude, and Mason all had three hits in the game and all picked up at least one RBI in the game. Mason extended his hitting streak to 21 games as well.

Missouri Western and Nebraska-Kearney are scheduled to face-off tomorrow with the first pitch at 1 p.m. at the Spring Sports Complex.
