BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Missouri Western baseball team rattled off six runs in the ninth inning to take the game and the series, Saturday at Southwest Baptist.
Down 5-1 heading into the ninth, Missouri Western put its first four batters on base.
Jeremy Alvarado was the fourth. His double down the left field line was the first of six Griffon runs in the inning, four of them with two out.
Orencio Fisher was the first to reach in the top of the ninth and the last to drive in a run in the inning as Missouri Western batted around. Fisher's single through the left side drove in the Griffons' go ahead runs.
Preston Bailey allowd a hit in the ninth, but that was it, picking up his second save of the year. Jared Loyd earned the win, going two perfect innings. Alvarado finished 3-5 at the plate.
Cosimo Cannella was 2-5 as was Fisher.
The win moved the Griffons to 7-6 on the year and 2-3 in MIAA play.
