ST. JOSEPH – It was a different day, but a similar result in the second game of a series with Missouri Southern for the Griffon baseball team. Missouri Western was run-ruled for the second day in a row, dropping game two, 12-2 on Saturday.
Much like the day before the Griffon bats were cold, but Missouri Southern's were not as the Lions piled on 15 hits on the day, including four home runs. Missouri Western totaled four hits on the day, two in the seventh as
Jeremy Alvarado provided the only runs of the game for Missouri Western with a two-run home run to left in the bottom of the seventh. It was too little too late as Missouri Western dropped to 14-8 overall and 6-5 in MIAA play.
Richard Peoples was tagged with the loss. He went four innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits while striking out two.
The Griffons will look to salvage one win in the final game of the series, Sunday at 1 p.m.
