Men's Basketball Back in Action Saturday at Missouri Southern

The Griffons Will Look For Their Second Straight Win

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Griffons are coming off an important win against Lindenwood last Saturday and look to make more noise facing off with Missouri Southern Saturday afternoon.

THE GRIFFONS
The Griffons are coming off an impressive win against Lindenwood, beating them by a score of 67-58. Missouri Western currently ranks ninth in the MIAA and sit two games behind Missouri Southern who is currently sitting eighth in the conference.

Missouri Western is averaging 67.7 points per game and allow 67.7 to their opponents. As a team, they have been able to shoot 43% from the field. The Griffons also grab 34.4 rebounds per game and the opponent grabs 34.4 rebounds as well. 

Cortrez Colbert has moved into the top-10 in scoring the MIAA, averaging 15.9 points per game. He shoots an average of 45 percent from the field and manages to connect on 75 percent of his free throws. Freshman Cole Clearman is the team's second leading scorer at 8.8 points per game.The Griffons inside game continue to improve with both Seth Bonifas and Kevin Thomas combining to average 12.2 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game.


MISSOURI SOUTHERN LIONS
Missouri Southern has lost three straight after winning four straight games prior to that. The Lions are coming off an 80-68 loss to Northwest Missouri.

MSSU has one of the league's best offenses averaging 78.0 points per game, placing them third in the MIAA. They hold a +6 scoring margin and shoot 45 percent from the field as a unit. The Lions are currently the best free throw shooting team in the MIAA, shooting at a 74 percent clip. Missouri Southern is ninth in the conference in rebounding, averaging 35.2 rebounds per game.

The Lions are led by Taevaunn Price as he averages 15.6 points per game and the team's leading rebounder at 6.8 per game.  MSSU has two other players averaging double figures. Lane Barlow and Cameron Cornelius average 11.3 and 11.2 points per game respectively. Barlow also leads the team in assist and steals.
