Women's Basketball Hosts Central Oklahoma In Last Game of 2014

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffons will face off against Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon before the end of 2014.

THE GRIFFONS
Missouri Western won in convincing fashion Thursday night against 
Northeastern State, 68-35. The Griffons had four players in double-figures, led by Sarafina Handy with 13 points, followed by Alex Saxen with 11 and 10 each from Ariana Novak and Milly Koyamainavure.

MWSU held the RiverHawks to just 35 points on Thursday, the lowest on the season, and now have a scoring defense of 60.6 points per game. On 
offense, the Griffons average 75.1 points per game and shoot 45 percent from the field. Missouri Western now holds a +10 margin in the rebounding 
category, averaging 41.6 per game.

Leading scorer, averaging 18.6 points per game, LaQuinta Jefferson is 
recovering from an ankle injury which has allowed other players to fill the scoring void. The Griffons Sarafina Handy and Miliakere Koyamainavure average 13.1 and 9.1 respectively. Tiara Hall continues to shoot 63% from the field and grab 6.6 rebounds per game.

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS
The Bronchos are coming off a tough loss to Central Missouri, 63-58, after leading by 10 at halftime on Thursday. UCO had four players score over eight points in the game.

Central Oklahoma is scoring 73.1 points per game on 44 percent shooting from the field.  Defensively, they hold their opponents to 61.9 points per game and only allow them to shoot 36 percent from the field.

UCO relies on Haley Weathers and Olivia Mason to score, each averaging in double-figures this season. Julia Mason and Kylie Mayes, each average 9.5 points per game. Four players average over four rebounds per game.

The Griffons were led by Sharniece Lewis with 18 points. Lawrence and Hall finished the game with nine and eight point respectively while Lawrence dished out nine of the Griffons 15 assists. Central Oklahoma had four players finish in double figures with Mason leading the charge with 18 points and Jill Bryan pitching in 18.
