ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The 2014-15 Griffon Women's Basketball season begins this weekend when the Griffons travel to Quincy, Illinois for the QU Subway Tip-Off Classic. Missouri Western takes on Robert Morris on Friday and host Quincy on Saturday.

Eight newcomers will look to mesh with five returning players in head coach Rob Edmisson's third season at the helm of the program. The Griffons are coming off an impressive exhibition game agains the University of Missouri. Transfer, LaQuinta Jefferson scored 40 points as the team lost by just three points to an SEC opponent. Jefferson missed a three as time expired that would have sent the game to overtime.

Providing extra motivation, the team was picked to finish 11th in the Preseason MIAA Coaches Poll. Ariana Novak returns this season after leading the team last year with a 10.7 points per game average.
