St. Joseph, Mo. – Griffon Volleyball endured an emotional senior weekend as they split a pair of home games in the fieldhouse.  On Friday, the Griffs defeated Fort Hays State three sets to one as three players recorded double digit kills with Erica Rottinghaus leading the way with 19.  The victory was the 15th MIAA win which sets the school record for the most in a season.  Then on senior night, the Griffs battled #7 Nebraska-Kearney tough in front of an electric crowd but fell to the Lopers in three sets as Rottinghaus again led the way with 13 kills.  

Tuesday night the Griffons take on Lindenwood at 7 PM and then head to Warrensburg on Friday for a match-up with first place Central Missouri also at 7 PM.

The Griffons – Missouri Western currently post a record of 21-7 overall and a MIAA record of 15-5 this season. Jessie Thorup and Erica Rottinghaus continue to perform offensively both ranking in the top-10 in kills per set and combining for more than 725 kills this season. The Griffons offense goes through Jordan Chohon averaging 11.91 assist per game ranking her first in the MIAA. Sarah Faubel continues to add to the all-time digs record tallying 1761 throughout her career and is currently averaging 3.78 digs per set this season.

The Lions – The Lions come into the match with a record of 5-23 overall and 2-18 MIAA record. They are led by four players averaging over 2.00 kills per set with Shannon Doyle averaging 2.69 to lead the team. Lindenwood leans on two setters to run their offense through. Sarah-Jane Pavlik is currently averaging 8.03 assist per set and Ivy Reynolds records 4.19 assist per set. On defense, Anna Reichert is averaging 4.04 digs per set and two other players average at least 2.00 digs per set. Sophomore Sarah Makowski currently ranks third in the MIAA with 1.25 blocks per set.
