The Griffons – Missouri Western remains tied with Central Missouri for second place in the MIAA behind Nebraska-Kearney. The Griffons on offense have been as consistent and balanced as any team in the MIAA, they have five players this season with over 100 kills. The leader is
Jessie Thorup with 320 total kills and an average of 3.72 kills per set, followed by
Erica Rottinghaus with 298 total kills and 3.47 kills per set.
Kelsey Olion (216),
Amanda Boender (179), and
Lindsey Partridge (104) are the other attackers for the Griffons. The offense continues to be run by a skilled setter in
Jordan Chohon as she is averaging 11.77 assist per game sitting at the top of the MIAA. Missouri Western is led by
Sarah Faubel defensively as she is posting 3.63 digs per set and has accumulated 312 this season.
The Griffons remained in the top spot in hitting percentage with .258 and hold their opponents to an average of .197 hitting percentage. Also, as a team MWSU sits third in the MIAA averaging 13.05 assist per game.
The Bearcats – The Bearcats come into the weekend with a record of 8-15 overall and a conference record of 3-12. SBU has four players averaging over 2.00 kills per set. Lori Angello sets the pace with 2.82 kills per set and Taryn Marton follows closely with a 2.63 kill per set ratio. The leading assister for SBU is Kelsey Fankhauser producing 9.34 per set. Defensively, Hannah Blount is currently ranked fourth in the MIAA in digs recording 5.16 per set.
The Gorillas – Pittsburg State is currently 7-16 this season and posts a record of 4-11 in the MIAA. This year the Gorillas have been led by Madi Mosier accumulating 3.51 kills per set while adding 2.08 digs per set. Hayley Hansford is ranked sixth in the MIAA averaging 9.83 assist per set. On defense, four individuals average over 2.00 digs per set with Ashlen Schwartz recording 4.32 per set to lead the team.
