Box Score Season Stats

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri Western dropped its first match of the 2013 season, losing 3-0 to Rockhurst.

The Griffons fell in a close first set, losing 25-22. Rockhurst kept its momentum in the next two sets, defeating the Griffons 25-20 and 25-16. It was the first match played under new head Griffon coach Marian Carbin. The match was played at the Pittsburg Tournament.

Missouri Western opened up a 7-4 lead but couldn't hold on as the Hawks  went on a 17-7 run to take a 21-15 lead. The Hawks led the majority of the second and third sets as well to take the first match of the year.

Erica Rottinghaus, a transfer from Highland Community College, led the team with 11 kills. She also had eight digs to place second on the team behind libero Sarah Faubel. The Griffons next play at 4:30 p.m. against Quincy.
