ST. JOSEPH, Mo – Missouri Western sits at 2-6 after playing its first two weekends in non-conference tournaments. The Griffons have dropped four straight after sweeping Pittsburg State in a non-conference match 3-0.

Erica Rottinghaus, who has a team-high 102 kills in eight matches. She has balanced her offensive attack out with nice defense, securing 98 digs, which is good for second place behind
Sarah Faubel's 127.
Outside hitter
Jessie Thorup has provided 74 kills and has started all eight matches for the Griffons. Rottinghaus and
Lindsey Partridge have also started all eight matches.
Amanda Boender has a team-high 28 blocks so far for the Griffons.
About Northwest State: Northwest Missouri State enters its first MIAA game with a 4-4 record. The Bearcats are coming off two straight 3-1 losses after going 2-2 in the NSIC Challenge. Northwest lost to Augustana 3-1 and Sioux Falls 3-1. Throughout the first four matches, Miranda Foster leads the team with 47 kills. Shelby Duren is second with 43. Bridget Hanafin has been a solid setter so far for the Bearcats, totaling 138 assists.
About Emporia State: The Hornets are 6-2 after starting the season 5-0. They lost to Ferris State last Saturday 3-0 after defeating Winona State 3-2. The Hornets' first conference match will take place Tuesday night when they host Washburn. Leading Emporia is Josie Williams and Carly Spicer, who have tallied 75 and 73 kills respectively. Kelly Holden has a team-high 144 digs while Macki Pankratz leads the Hornets with 167 assists.
Up Next: The Griffons play their first home match of the season. They are scheduled to play Fort Hays State Tuesday at 7 p.m. After that, the Griffons go back on the road to play Central Missouri at 7 p.m. the following Friday and the play Lindenwood at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
