The Griffons returned home to play Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon at MWSU Fieldhouse, defeating the Bearcats 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-16).

Missouri Western won the first set 25-19. Torey Lyman had a huge first set, sparking the Griffons with three kills. They took a 15-10 advantage midway through the first set and continued to carry the momentum, taking the 25-19 victory.

The second set proved to be the pivotal point in the match for the Griffons. With both teams battling for the win, the Bearcats led all the way until MWSU tied the set at 15-15. The Griffons used a 4-point run to take a 17-15 lead, and carried the lead to 23-22.

After a service error by Southwest Baptist, Jessie Thorup finished the win with her 6^th kill in the set to take a 25-23 win.
The third set went back and forth for a little bit until the set was tied at 16.

The Griffons finished with a 9-0 run, including three blocks to sweep Southwest Baptist, winning 25-16.

The Bearcats had 10 serving errors to add to their struggle. Thorup finished with a game-high 9 kills. Amanda Boender had 3 blocks along with placing second on the team with 8 kills. Lyman, Meredith McCormick and Sarah Faubel all finished with 6 kills.

MWSU returns to action in the Washburn Crossover Tournament October 5 through 6.
