The Missouri Western volleyball team will try to get back on track this weekend with a pair of home MIAA matches. The Griffons are 7-4 overall and 1-2 in MIAA Play.

The Griffons went 1-2 last week, losing to Northwest Missouri State in 4 sets, then swept Missouri Southern 3-0 before falling to Emporia State 3-0. The Griffons played all three games at MWSU Fieldhouse.

On Friday, Sept. 21 the Griffons take on 8th ranked Central Missouri at 7 p.m. They stay busy as on Saturday, the Griffons take on Lindenwood University for the first time in school history.

This season, the Griffons have shared the attacks, as Stephanie Hattey leads the team by a slim margin with 82 kills. Jessie Thorup and Amanda Boender both have over 70 kills with Thorup's 79 and Boender at 72. Sarah Faubel and Meredith McCormick both sit on the outside with 69 and 68 kills respectively. The Griffons have 480 kills as a team.

Boender leads the team with 34 total blocks and Faubel has a team-high 124 digs. Hattey has 223 assists to lead the Griffons.

About Central Missouri: The Jennies have a 68-3 career record against the Griffons. They are currently ranked 8^th in the nation, and are on a five-game winning streak. Leading Central Missouri is Bradye Peniston, who has 150 kills. Julia Bates is the top setter for Central, as she has 449 of the team's 560 assists.

About Lindenwood: The first ever matchup between these two schools begins at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The Lions have lost five of their past six games, including an 0-3 start to their first year in the MIAA. Lindenwood shares its hits, as three athletes, Katie Weber, Kayla Guyot and Kelsey Kennedy, all have over 90 kills.
