BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Her former assistant coach told her to do it, and she did.
Â
Morgan Rathmann became Griffon softball's career stolen base leader on Saturday at the Arkansas-Monticello 8-State Classic, surpassing Mandie Nocita (Berneking). It was Rathmann's 83
rd career stolen base, and it was just the 11
th game of the season for the senior center fielder.
Â
Rathmann's record breaker came in the third inning against Upper Iowa after she doubled to right field for her second extra base hit of the game. She would score her second run of the game, and the 147
th of her career which is second all-time behind Nocita, two batters later. That run gave MWSU a 3-1 lead in a game the Griffons won 5-4.
